Honey’s pick: Blink Wired Floodlight Camera if you already use Blink and have suitable outdoor wiring. Choose Ring Floodlight Cam Plus—the wired model formerly called Floodlight Cam Wired Plus—if keeping your Ring cameras together matters more.
Starting from scratch? The decision is mostly about installation and recording costs. I would rather choose the storage arrangement now than discover it while trying to find footage of something that happened last night.

Blink Wired Floodlight vs Ring Wired Plus: brightness is only one part
Blink’s published lumen rating is higher. That does not prove it will identify a face or number plate better. Light placement, camera angle, distance, Wi-Fi, and glare all affect what you can actually use. Pointing a bright fixture straight at a reflective surface can make the view worse.
I would choose the mounting location before choosing the winner. Think about the part of the driveway you need to see and where the lights will land. A camera that spends the evening reporting passing traffic is giving you homework.
Can a floodlight camera record without a subscription?
Blink’s wired floodlight connects to Wi-Fi without requiring a Sync Module for basic operation. For supported local motion recording, however, add a storage-capable module and drive. That is a different requirement from simply getting the live picture working.
Ring’s standard no-plan experience includes live viewing and alerts, but not saved video history. Check Ring’s recording-plan explanation before treating either fixture’s hardware price as the whole cost.
Wired installation: check this before ordering
Both models in this comparison are wired fixtures. Confirm that the installation point and electrical supply meet the manufacturer’s requirements. Blink specifies a suitable weatherproof electrical box. If the wiring is unclear or the location needs new electrical work, include a qualified electrician in the budget.
A battery floodlight camera might suit a place without wiring, but it is a different comparison. Do not buy this wired Blink model expecting it to run on replaceable batteries just because other Blink cameras do.
My buying decision
For an existing Blink home, I would pick Blink and put any savings toward the correct recording setup. For an existing Ring home, adding a second camera app may be more trouble than the savings justify—particularly if the current plan already covers another compatible camera.
For a new system, price the fixture, installation, storage hardware, and the plan you actually intend to keep. Then compare the workflows. The best outdoor security camera is the one that gives you usable coverage and a recording you can find when you need it.
