Blink vs eufy E340 Doorbell: Which One Makes More Sense Without Monthly Fees?
A doorbell should tell you who is on the porch before it starts trying to sell you another subscription.

The Verdict

Honey’s reality check: if the doorbell needs a monthly subscription just to tell me who is standing on my own porch, I would at least like to know that before the box is open and the screws are missing.

*Blink local recording requires compatible Sync Module hardware plus removable storage. This is a setup comparison, not an HBH image-quality test.

eufy E340 vs Blink: where do the clips actually go?

The E340 has built-in storage. For a first-time buyer, that is a cleaner shopping list. Its second camera also gives you a separate view toward packages rather than asking one camera view to do every job.

Blink can also save supported motion clips without a subscription, but the linked Core bundle does not include local recording. Add the cost of a storage-capable hub and removable storage before comparing it with eufy. If you already own the necessary Blink equipment, the calculation changes.

Built-in storage has its own tradeoff: the device holding the clips is outside. Think about what you would want to happen if it were damaged or removed. If keeping footage on an indoor base matters, investigate a compatible HomeBase setup and include that cost. “Local” tells you where video is stored; it is not a complete privacy or resilience guarantee.

Batteries and Alexa are preferences, not automatic winners

Some people would rather swap batteries than remember to recharge a pack. Others would rather recharge than keep buying replacements. Choose the chore you will actually do.

And Alexa is not an exclusive Blink advantage: the E340 supports it too. Staying in the Blink app is a reasonable preference. Saying eufy cannot work with Alexa would be the wrong reason to dismiss it.

What I would check before buying a no-subscription doorbell

  • Compare the complete recording setup, including any hub, storage, chime, and mounting accessories.
  • Check that the camera sees the part of the doorstep where packages are left.
  • Confirm Wi-Fi and chime compatibility for the exact model.
  • Decide where important footage should live and how you will export it.
  • Check the replacement-battery or charging routine against your household habits.

My final pick

Starting with nothing and trying to avoid monthly recording fees, I would choose the E340. Already have a working Blink system with local storage? I would not replace everything just to win an argument about brands.

These are researched buying recommendations, not a claim that either camera catches every event. Resolution numbers and tidy product photos cannot tell you how a doorbell will behave on your particular porch.

The Blink link includes Core. Module 2 and a USB drive are additional purchases if you want that local-storage route.

How this comparison was made: This is a research-based buying guide using manufacturer documentation and the linked product listings, checked September 8, 2026. It is not a hands-on performance test. Product photos are manufacturer/listing images, not photographs of Honey’s installation. Specifications, bundles, and subscription terms can change.

The Story

Video doorbells are supposed to answer one question: who is at the door? Then the subscription page arrives wearing a little hat and suddenly we are discussing cloud clips, local storage, battery schedules and whether the porch has become SaaS. This is why we read the fine print before drilling holes.

Honey’s Bottom Line

Doorbell rule: the best camera is the one you can actually configure, hear, and use without paying for features you never wanted. Honey prefers fewer surprises at the front door.
